What’s Up on Planet Earth and What Can We Do About It?

After much anticipation and excitement, 2012 is finally here! So now what? It is pretty obvious there’s something major brewing; we just don’t know what. From the Mayan Calendar ending December 21st to the Hopi Prophecies, it looks as though we are in for a great ride this year!

Gregg Braden, bestselling author, scientist and spiritual visionary, is world renowned for his insights and thoughts about what is happening and what we can expect to see. According to Braden, our world is experiencing major breakdowns in the economy and politics as well as increased severity in weather patterns. These changes are forcing us to think differently about ourselves. It appears that what our ancestors had long understood and today’s scientists are only just beginning to comprehend is that earth’s location in space is a variable factor that requires major examination.

“We are living in a rare and precious moment of change where we have the opportunity to tip the scales of healing and peace in our favor, in a way that has not happened for over 5,000 years.” It is time to take an honest look and make the changes necessary that will manifest the prophecies of our ancestors. So why the reluctance to change? There are a lot of reasons: Power, money, and ego all have a vested interest in our staying connected to the false beliefs of old.

In Gregg’s latest book, Deep Truth, he challenges the so called “truths” many of us have bought into. Like, we are being taught:

1) that evolution explains life itself and also explains human life.

2)that civilization is only about 5,000 to 5,500 years old. That civilization has happened once. That it is a linear experience from the primitive civilization from 5,500 years ago to the sophistication of the world we are seeing today.

3) that consciousness is somehow separate from our physical world.

4) that the space between things is empty. So the space between the nucleus of an atom and its first electron is the same as the space between me and the desk across the room. And, that that space is empty!

5) that nature is based on what is called “survival of the Strongest” which is often interpreted as “survival of the Fittest.” But, in Darwin’s own words, it was specifically “survival of the Strongest.”

Gregg suggests that you should now put a big X through those beliefs, because in peer-reviewed scientific journals, they are now regarded as totally false; especially in the scientific arenas, where the discoveries were first made!

So, let’s focus on the “Survival of the Strongest” belief system. Braden says emphatically that always, always, always competition leads to the destruction of the species, and, that Nature, as a matter of fact, is not based on competition. While competition does happen sometimes, Nature is actually based upon a very powerful model of cooperation called “mutual aid.” He suggests that the crises we are witnessing and their magnitude are forcing this mutual cooperation upon us in an unprecedented fashion. Whether it’s the collapse of family finances, or the collapse of peace in the Middle East, or the natural disasters created by super storms, Gregg thinks that what we’re seeing now, we will see more of, and, the magnitude of these crises will continue to increase, until we learn to work together… to survive.

Braden adds that based on geological history, this time of earth changes is projected to be intense but relatively brief. “When the earth changes subside, we will be better people … with stronger communities, stronger nations and, finally, we will have learned to work together. This will be the way for us to fulfill the prophecies and the vision of our indigenous ancestors”

The question then becomes, what can we, as individuals, possibly do? The problem is more than a leader of a single nation, it is more than a single government, and it is more than a single economic system gone bad. Those are all parts of it. But, what modern science now is showing us is that we, collectively, have the ability to tip the scales of peace and cooperation in our own favor – if we can learn “the language” of the very fields of energy that connect and sustain all life on earth and where our most cherished and spiritual traditions and the latest science seem to overlap.

It is generally acknowledged that we are influenced by the “fields” around us. This has been well documented scientifically and anecdotally. For instance, everyone knows that on a full moon, there are more emergency room visits, more traffic accidents, and more people just plain acting nutty – all because of the influence of the moon’s magnetic field on our human nervous system. We also know that we are influenced by the four seasons. When people don’t have the sunlight they need, it affects their emotions and instances of depression and suicide increase. New scientific data further suggests that we are also influenced by solar cycles, because instances of social unrest increase, when solar cycle intensity increases. Intriguing? You bet! But this is only the beginning.

The new science is telling a new story. It is now saying that field influence is a two-way conversation. We know fields affect us but check out this documented occurrence on 9/11.

On that fateful day, a group of scientists were engaged in their routine studies of the earth’s magnetic field. Like clockwork, every 30 minutes, satellites were dutifully sending back their data. As usual, it was received in a rhythmic ebb and a flow – like a big heartbeat. Suddenly, there was a giant spike in the graphs! It was then that scientists realized something of worldwide import was happening! What they believed they were seeing was the collective anguish of hundreds of millions of heart responding to the images of 9/11–frozen– in an instant in time. An emotion so powerful that it actually raised the strength of the magnetic field of the earth! And don’t we all remember…that for a few days right after 9/11…how the earth seemed without color, without pettiness, without greed. How there was a oneness that aligned us all…as family. The scientists call that a high level of coherence. We might call it Love.

When it comes to this symbiotic field, there can be no “them” and “us.” There is only “we.” And we all contribute to this field – every day – consciously or unconsciously. The question is, what must we feed the field? How do we nourish and nurture this field that connects all human hearts on this plane?

The heart has been scientifically documented to have the strongest magnetic field in the body; 5,000 times stronger magnetically than the human brain. And, it is the one organ in our body that was somehow designed to communicate with the magnetic field of the earth. Just how that works is now being examined.

Howard Martin, Vice President of The Institute of Heartmath, is also the Co-Founder of the Global Coherence Initiative, a pioneering study of coherent fields. We know that coherence is good for us as individuals and, now, we also know that collective coherence is good for families, communities, and the entire planet!

Heartmath has created the Global Coherence Initiative (GCI) for two reasons. First, to create “sensors” by teaching and sharing techniques of coherence to individuals, to families, in classrooms and business environments. Second, as a way to document the effects of many trained people actively creating coherence on the planet.

Once deployed throughout the world, these newly-trained coherence sensors will be able to tell us information about ourselves and our relationship to the earth and its magnetic field. The sensors in these projects will be dedicated solely to tipping the scales of peace and balance in our favor, and the results won’t be thanks to some weather satellite or military project!

The mission statement for the Global Coherence Initiative is “To unite millions of people from varied beliefs and cultures to shift global consciousness from instability and chaos to balance and cooperation.” The sole purpose for GCI is to create an environment in which we are empowered to marry our most cherished and ancient and heart-based spiritual traditions with the best that today’s science has to offer. And, to apply what we claim to have learned to a world that is very much in crisis.

If we were ever going to walk our talk, now is the perfect time. This is where our spiritual rubber meets the road of today’s reality. The Global Coherence Initiative is one opportunity that is already well under way but it is not complete. We are still building the system, training the sensors, and creating heartfelt coherence.

We need everyone’s help to do this.

The good news is, even though we can’t stop the coming changes, with Gregg and Howard leading the way, we can certainly gain wisdom and insight from them, for ourselves and for future generations. That is the hope we all share today.
